Assessment
Assessment is ongoing at USF and is linked to the broader enterprise of continuous quality improvement,
which is driven in part by requirements of our regional accreditor, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC),
and the Florida Board of Governors (FLBOG). The Institutional Effectiveness and Planning unit oversees and facilitates the process of assessment,
including the integration of assessment into annual administrative unit reviews and annual reporting and budgeting processes.
System for Assessment Management (SAM)
SAM is an online assessment management system used to enter, edit, and manage all assessment plans and reports for academic programs (undergraduate, graduate, certificate),
and academic and student support services. Please note that the system is optimized for use with Google Chrome only.
Our Mission
The mission of the Institutional Effectiveness and Planning (IEP) unit in USF’s Office of Decision Support is to promulgate good assessment and evaluation practices across
the university and to align these assessment and evaluation activities with other quality monitoring and continuous improvement activities, including strategic planning,
college reviews, program reviews, administrative unit reviews, budgeting, and the development of accountability plans.
Getting Started
If you are new to SAM and have not previously had access, you will need to request access as a new user. Use the Request Access link below the
log in button to request access. You should receive an email notification once you have been given access to your plans in SAM.
After you have been granted access to SAM, log in using your NetID and password. You will be presented with your logged-in home page where you will
see information pertaining to the assessment plans to which you have access. Your home page also provides you with announcements including scheduled
timelines of the assessment process.
